Hi, I’m Liz, and together with my husband Darren, we’re the heart behind Liz Poore, Dream Vacations. After spending over 20 years in federal government contracting (15 as a contractor and 5 as a federal government employee), I took a deferred resignation to pursue something I’m truly passionate about: helping others make travel a reality—no matter their budget or life circumstances.
Living with Crohn’s disease and an ileostomy has taught me not to wait for “someday.” Every day is a gift, and we want to help you make the most of yours by creating unforgettable travel experiences that are accessible, meaningful, and full of joy.
Darren and I love the water—so much so that we got married aboard The American Rover in Norfolk, VA! It was the perfect setting for two people who feel most at home near the sea. Darren is my partner in life and in business, and though he spent over 20 years navigating the deep as a U.S. Navy submarine commander, he’s still getting the hang of ships that stay on top of the water (we promise he’s getting there!).
By day, Darren serves as the Branch Manager for the Provider Management Branch at the U.S. Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service, but his heart belongs to adventure. With years of travel under his belt—from duty stations to personal getaways—he’s got a treasure trove of destinations and travel tips to share.
